Password reset for Digital Instruments, Digitisers and Acquisition Systems

These reset procedures should be used if your password has been forgotten.

It is not, in general, possible to recover a forgotten password. The procedures below can only be used to reset the password to the factory default. The password should then be changed immediately. Güralp recommend the use of a random password generator such as that at random.org to generate truly strong passwords.

The default passwords of Güralp equipment are widely known. Do not connect any unit to the Internet without first changing the default password to something stronger. Strong passwords are essential for Internet-connected systems.

Minimus₂
Minimus Lite

There is currently no published procedure for password reset on Minimus₂ or Minimus Lite digitisers. Please contact for advice.

Minimus
Minimus+

The passwords of a Minimus or Minimus+ digitiser can be reset using the Minimus password reset procedure.

Fortimus

The passwords of a Fortimus accelerometer can be reset using the Fortimus password reset procedure.

Certimus

The passwords of a Certimus seismometer can be reset using the Certimus password reset procedure.

Affinity

The root password of an Affinity digitiser can be reset using the Affinity password reset procedure.

NAM Mk2

The root password of a NAM Mk2 data acquisition system can be reset using the NAM Mk2 password reset procedure.

NAM Mk1

There is currently no published procedure for password reset on the NAM Mk1 data acquisition system. Please contact for advice.

These systems each contain two internal modules: a DM24 digitiser and an EAM acquisition system. The root password of the EAM can be reset using the EAM password reset procedure.

3TDE

This instrument contains two internal modules: a DM24 digitiser and an EAM acquisition system. The root password of the EAM can be reset using the EAM password reset procedure.

3ESPCDE

This instrument contains two internal modules: a digitiser and an EAM acquisition system. The digitiser can be either a DM24 or a CD24. The root password of the EAM can be reset using the EAM password reset procedure.

The firmware of a CD24 digitiser is not password-protected.

40TDE

This instrument contains two internal modules: a DM24 digitiser and an EAM acquisition system. The root password of the EAM can be reset using the EAM password reset procedure.

5TCDE

The firmware of a CD24 digitiser is not password-protected.

The root password of an EAM data acquisition system can be reset using the EAM password reset procedure.

There is currently no published procedure for password reset on DCM acquisition systems. Please contact for assistance.

3ESPCD
with CD24

The 3ESPCD was offered with choice of two digitisers: a DM24 or a CD24. Models with a CD24 have a 19-pin connector on the lid for a break-out box (). The DATA and GPS connectors are on the break-out box, not on the instrument. The firmware of the CD24 is not password-protected.

The 3ESPCD was offered with choice of two digitisers: a DM24 or a CD24. Models with a DM24 have DATA and GPS connectors on the lid of the instrument itself.

The 6TD has an internal CD24 digitiser. The firmware of the CD24 is not password-protected.

CD24

The firmware of the CD24 is not password-protected.

Do not connect any unit to the Internet without first changing the default password to something stronger. Strong passwords are essential for Internet-connected systems.
